In a new national social investment partnership with BGC Canada (formerly Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada), Shell Canada is helping deliver more programs and services to Indigenous children and youth.

As Canada’s largest dedicated child and youth-serving organization, BGC Canada’s mission is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.

“We’re uniting with BGC Canada in a shared commitment to provide opportunities and remove barriers for children and youth, with a focus on programming and services for Indigenous communities,” says Susannah Pierce, President & Canada Country Chair. “Together, we’re going to positively impact young people and their families across the country, including the thousands that identify as Indigenous.”

BGC Canada is committed to furthering relationships and trust with Indigenous communities across Canada by expanding services to more Indigenous children and youth through high-quality and culturally relevant programming, guided by local relationships and support.

A 2023-member survey demonstrates the transformational impact BGC Clubs have on a young person’s life. Because of a Club, 90% or more children and youth surveyed report that they:

  • have more people they like to spend time with
  • are better at helping out are more excited to try new things
  • are more accepting of others
  • are more physically active

  • work better with others
  • are more comfortable being themselves
  • have a more positive influence on others
