Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Frequently Asked Questions
What is different about the new formulation of Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline?
The new formulation of Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ has a new molecule that removes up to 100% of performance-robbing deposits.1 The build-up of these deposits in fuel injectors can have a disruptive effect on the spray into the combustion chamber, meaning your engine is no longer operating under optimum conditions. Removing deposits that have formed in injectors helps an engine perform at its full potential.
Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline continues to provide the same benefits found in our previous formulation, including protection against future build-up of carbon deposits, unbeatable protection against corrosion and our best protection against wear and friction.
Why should you use Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline?
We know that over 2/3rds of all new car registrations are Gasoline Direct Injection engines (GDI). This new formulation of Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline is designed to remove up to 100% of carbon deposits that build up on the fuel injectors allowing these modern engines to perform at their peak performance.
Do I have to drive a premium recommended or required car to get any benefit from Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline?
No, you don’t. OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer) design engines to meet power, fuel economy, and emissions requirements at a specific minimum octane rating. Not only does Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline meet or exceed your engine’s minimum octane requirements, but it is also the only grade of Shell gasoline that removes up to 100% of performance robbing deposits to rejuvenate the engine’s performance1along with provide protection against deposits, corrosion, wear and friction – benefits that can be realized in all engine types.
What makes Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline different than other Shell fuel grades?
Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline contains the highest concentration of our proprietary additive that removes up to 100% of performance-robbing deposits. In fact, Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ contains six times the amount of cleaning agents required by federal standards.
How was Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline tested?
We test our formulations in industry standard laboratory procedures and bench engines, and in a range of vehicles found on the road today. We have clocked more than 800,000 equivalent kilometers of testing on modern engines, specifically on direct injection engines.
Is Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline TOP TIER™ certified?
Yes, Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline is TOP TIER™ certified and meets or exceeds TOP TIER™ standards. All other grades of Shell gasoline are also TOP TIER™ certified.
Is there a rewards program for Shell V-Power® NiTRO+?
For Fuel Customers, drivers can be rewarded through programs such as AIRMILES® and CAA, or Car Wash Subscriptions. Manage subscriptions and rewards programs through the Shell App.
What is Corrosion?
Corrosion is caused by moisture and other contaminants that can make their way into a vehicle’s fuel tank. It can impact the fuel pump, fuel lines and fuel injectors. Furthermore, formation of particles from corrosive processes such as rusting of steel surfaces can contribute to the blockage of fuel filters, impacting overall vehicle operation.
What are Deposits?
Carbon deposits can build up on intake valves and fuel injectors, which can make your engine work less efficiently. Shell V- Power® NiTRO+ has six times the cleaning agents required to meet federal standards and removes baked-in deposits left by lower- quality premium gasoline, starting with the very first tank. With continual use of Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline, will help prevent future buildup of carbon deposits.
What is Friction?
Friction in your engine occurs as piston rings move against cylinder walls, generating heat, wasting energy, and reducing the overall efficiency of your engine. Too much friction can also damage metal surfaces, increasing wear on critical engine parts.
What is Wear?
Wear can occur slowly, over time, when two metal surfaces rub against each other, leading to loss of metal from those surfaces. This can occur in the piston assembly, fuel pump and fuel injectors and can cause higher oil consumption, loss of power and higher emissions.
