The Commercial Graduate Program offers a wide range of opportunities for you to demonstrate delivering commercial value across Shell. Joining this Program will drive your development by enabling you to closely collaborate and create solutions together with our customers, business partners and suppliers to accelerate profitability in the Energy Transition.
Your Shell Commercial Graduate Program experience
You will undertake two different 18-month commercial assignments during your time on the Program. Regardless of which part of the business you will work for, you will be exposed to multiple elements of the end-to-end value chain, learning the dynamics of profit and loss and how to deliver commercial value for our customers, whilst leveraging data analytics and digital ways of working.
The types of roles and experiences we offer are broad and you will have real responsibility from day one. You could be working in Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Business Development, Supply & Distribution Operations, Asset Economics, Deal Making, Customer Solutions or Pricing.
As you progress through different experiences and projects, we’ll also provide you with diverse and enriching learning opportunities. These will be in the form of not only traditional training courses, e-learning modules and workshops, but also focused on social learning, connects with senior commercial leaders and through case studies for you to work on with your fellow Graduates from across the globe.
Upon successful completion of the Roundtable assessment, you will be ready to continue your commercial career in your discipline of interest.

Most assignments are in Downstream Renewables & Energy Solutions businesses where we serve around 32 million customers a day at 46,000 service stations and provide products to more than 1 million business customers across 160 countries. We play an important role in defining the future of energy, by building the Upstream assets that deliver material cash flows, the Downstream assets where Shell produces advanced, low-carbon products, and the Integrated Gas & Renewables and Energy Solutions assets that deliver the energy that powers lives and livelihoods.
Your Shell Technical Graduate Program experience
This rigorous program is built on core competences and business-critical capabilities. It is a globally standardized program that is intended to accelerate Graduates’ development, so they are able to make decisions independently in preparation for a Management level role in a duration of 2-3 years. This competence-driven approach enables graduates to be developed in a broader technical skill base, with exposure to discipline specific skills.
Technical development is complemented with the skills that you will need to make an early business impact or critical personal skills to be able to build a trustful working relationship with others.
Upon successful completion of the Roundtable assessment, you will be eligible to move to a Management Level role or to enroll in the Shell Advanced Technical Program (SATP)*.
*Enrollment to SATP only applies to Graduates under these disciplines: Instrumentation, Control, and Electrical (ICE), Wells, Projects, Research and Development (R&D) and Process Engineering

Stage One: Virtual Job Tryout and On-Demand Interview
Step into the role with our Virtual Job Tryout, the first stage of your application journey. Experience the job through simulations where you tackle challenges, demonstrate your problem-solving skills, share your unique story, and reveal your work approach. This is a dynamic way to gauge how you’ll fit into a role in the Shell Graduate Program. Once you complete the Virtual Job Tryout, you will then move on to the On-Demand Interview. During the On-Demand Interview, you will be given enough time to prepare for each question before being asked to record your responses. You will be given the option to save your progress, though you will have to complete the interview within 7 days from receiving the invitation.
The Virtual Job Tryout and On-Demand Interview will take approximately 40 minutes.
Stage Two: Final Assessment (Virtual)
Applicants to either program will complete a virtual case study session with two Shell employees. You will need to read and prepare for this, but don’t worry, all the information you need will be provided to you in advance.
Applicants to the Shell Graduate Program (SGP) will complete a virtual interview with the same two Shell employees. This allows us to get to know you better and for you to get to know us better.
Following the successful completion of Stage 2, you could be offered a place in the Shell Graduate Program (SGP) or the Shell Assessed Internship Program (SAI) depending on currently available opportunities.
In the Assessed Internship Program, you will receive hands-on training and the chance to earn a Shell Graduate Program employment offer.
For Graduates, if you are successful in your application, your intake date could fall within one of these months: February, May, August or November. However, please be aware that the availability of roles varies by country. Some countries offer roles in all four months, while others provide opportunities only in certain months. The specifics are contingent on the location.

Our basic requirements
We welcome applicants who have either already graduated from a recognized university or are in the final year of their degree course.
For Technical roles in certain countries, we do ask that you have already obtained or are studying towards a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification. In other countries, many of our technical roles are for a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
For Commercial and Global Functions roles, we are looking for a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
