Process Engineering
Process engineers are vital to Shell, from design and operations, to research and new business development.
The Shell Graduate Program
You'll join a two to three-year industry-leading coaching and development program in the Technical area of the Shell Graduate Program. You'll become part of a global Process Engineering community and, as part of the tailored training on offer, you could work alongside some of the processing industry’s game changers.
There is real responsibility on offer from day one and you could be part of Shell’s most ground-breaking and critical projects, where problem solvers and innovators will thrive. Our working environment and community is supportive: at Shell, we want to help nurture you and to really push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Process Engineering
Process Engineering is vital to Shell’s activities across the business, and helps with the development and production of raw hydrocarbons and the subsequent processing into commercial products. With a curious mind you could be part of designing and optimizing chemical processes, and the operation of equipment and facilities; or analyzing and interpreting laboratory and plant data. Our process engineers also provide technical support to oil and gas production facilities, refineries and chemical plants (both onshore and offshore); ensure the technical integrity of plants and new projects; advise on process safety issues, and commission new installations.

“I’m Si Qi, I’m proud to be part of the big Shell family, which is a globally recognised icon and a leader of the energy industry. As a technical graduate I think that it is crucial to have a very strong technical foundation in the starting years of my career.”

“The best part of Shell graduate program is the on the job training that the graduates receive. On a day to day basis my line manager and senior technologist provide me with coaching and technical advice.”

“In Shell it is a very open culture. You can contact the senior leaders very easily. Any time I can knock on their door to talk about my career development and they can give you advice. My line manager is very accessible. We talk about my strengths and weaknesses, how I have developed. I have the individual development program. We plan out my goals and performance appraisal for the year and that aims to close up my weaknesses and develop on my strengths.”

“Shell is not shy in giving recognition to employees who have done well in contributing to the company. I’m particularly pleased with a project I have worked on to improve the capacity of the high margin unit by 5% and for that the company had generously given me recognition from the regional vice president. I’m particularly happy with the sense of satisfaction that I’ve gotten from achieving this project.”

“The nice thing is that Shell gives out learning subsidies to their employees so that we can pick up something that is of interest to us outside of work. I have chosen to take up Japanese classes and that keeps me motivated. It is something that I look forward to at the end of each week.”
